The idea of the project is to create a school and community centre that reflects the urban and architectural traditions of the Žvėrynas district, and gently blends into the long-standing natural environment. The new school building forms around itself courtyards with different uses, reflecting different areas of education, creativity and sport. By combining the old school buildings, a new school volume is created. On the roof of that volume a space for exploration and play is created for direct exploration by touching, building and playing. The architecture and interior design of the buildings is designed to maximise the use of the existing structures, while the new buildings are constructed using as much sustainable wood as possible.
